History
Urshalin City was a bustling metropolis. While the official population sat at aroound 1 million residents, the region was populated densely all the way from the mountains to the coast. High speed rail and air transportation made accessing the regions in between fast, safe, and efficient.
This all came to an end when the Cataclysm struck.
The massive explosion created winds in excess of 700 mph. No structure above ground was saved. In an instant, the entire region was scrubbed from the face of the planet. Those who did not not perish in the initial wind blast were killed in the maelstrom of rubble, or burned by the hellfire of heat that the winds carried.
In all, the entirety of the destruction happened in less than three seconds. There was no preparing, no warning. The city went from existing to gone in the blink of an eye.
Orsholon City was built on the site of Urshalin City, and many of the sewer tunnels became refuge for survivors during its construction.

Defences
Since the Urnati Global Compact, war and conflict had essentially been eliminated. There was, therefore, little need for any defensive system. Crime was low as the needs of most were well taken care of.
Demographics
Geography
Surrounded to the west and north by the Rinzeremel Mountains, Urshalin City was nestled into a beautiful location in the foothills. This higher elevation provided for cooler summer weather and often very cold winter nights.
Traveling east, the land gently sloped to the coast, bordered to the south by rivers and the north by the mountains.
Government
Urshalin City was managed by a regional supervisor as part of the Urnati Global Compact.
Industry
Urshalin City never strayed far from its mining roots. The mines north and west of the city had been producing various ores and minerals for centuries. Interestingly, the demand for gold, silver, and gems had declined to almost zero by 4500 BTG, as the citizenry had the vast majority of their needs taken care of. Trade became more about good and services than it was about currency, operating on a mostly barter-based system.
The city was a major trade hub, with clearinghouses for most goods within the city. It also was just minutes away by transport from the port city of Lohcrin. While most goods traveled by air, items like seafood and items too heavy for air transport often came by boat. These were offloaded in Lohcrin.
One of seven major trade hubs on Urnati, visitors from al lover the world came here to marvel at their technical advances and cultural exhibits.
Infrastructure
Urshalin City was first founded as a mining center. Mines were dug into the Rinzeremel Mountains to access rich ore and mineral deposits deep within them. As is true for many such mining operations, a bustling economy built up around it.
The city was equipped with a massive sewer network to move waste out of the city area. Hydroelectric and solar facilities provided early power, until Antimatter generation came into common usage.
