Description
History
Grand Master Technologists were learned Urnatis who were are the top of their fields. As technology became more and more integrated into everyday Urnati life, the need for individuals that were trusted advisors in technology became apparent.
Each new field of research became an opportunity for someone to ascend to the rank of Grand Master Technologist.
This all came to a crashing halt after the Cataclysm. Rightly or wrongly, most Urnatis placed the blame for the disaster on technology. Grand Master Technologists, if they survived, were ostracized and even reviled. Over time, they disappeared for their own safety. But the rank lived on. In fact, they took the name of one particular Grand Master Technologist, Wasam Sunuli. Future leaders have all used the name, both in tribute, but also to keep anonymity with multiples using the same name.
Cultural Significance
The Grand Master Technologists were once among the most admired individuals on Urnati. They were selected for their posiitions for their exceptional talents and knowledge.
But after the Cataclysm, those that survived were forced into hiding. This became especially important when the Dyan began rising in influence. The Dyan not only reviled the Technologists, but effectively began hunting them down. Since technology items, often referred to as Enen Finds had been made illegal to possess, there is precedent for prosecution of those who hold or traffic them. But the Dyan have been known to use “extra-legal” means of punishment.
Currently, Technologists in general are considered rogue entities.
