The Offworlder

In most cases, the idea of an Offworlder is a frightening prospect to a world where Ene (technology) is taboo. How did they get here? Why is he here? As these rumors have grown, so has the unease about them.

In 1185 ATG, a number of objects were streaking brightly across the sky. It was not during the traditional time of meteors or other regular starfalls, and these were much brighter than any others seen. Within a few years, rumors began circulating about a dark figure known as the Offworlder, purportedly a being that arrived during the even in 1185. In the two decades since, stories of the Offworlder and his attempt to control Arnathia have grown, usually in connection with odd or strange events that are not easily explained.

The myth of the Offworlder appears to have spread across Arnathia, with variations in almost every country and language. Even the Orcs have a version of the Offworlder myth.

A being from another world arrived on Arnathia and is looking to take control of the planet and make Arnathians his slaves.

The major storyline is that the Offworlder is planning the subjugation of the planet, and is working from the shadows to build an army of minions to do his bidding.

A second variation is that there was more than one Offworlder (as many as 7). The intentions of these Offworlders are often along the same lines as the primary conspiracy theory. It is rumored they have already insinuated their way into the ranks of the various world governments and are well on their way to their goal.

One name often comes up in any discussion of these conspiracy theories: Zorander Umbra. The stories of Zorander Umbra place him as the Offworlder. No one seems to actually know if such a person exists, but they have received blame for droughts, plagues, famines and the destruction of villages.
