Draconic Patronymic Naming Conventions

Dragons on Arnathia are named under a patronymic naming convention.

Dragons follow specific bloodlines and their names are Bloodline/MiddleName/Name(gender suffix). The last name (Name) is a compound of the last syllable of the father’s “middle” name, followed by a suffix of -nu for males and -na for females.

Dragons have a “middle” name, which is never used, except for naming. It is never spoken, and normally is only revealed when the dragon has an offspring.

Example:

In the Orshogoth line of silver dragons, Orshogoth Faas Gorathnu (a male) has one offspring, @[Orshogoth Argath Faasnu](person:338558bd-8217-4cac-a59f-cc99b3c74c07) (also a male). Had this offspring been a female, the name would have been Orshogoth Argath Faasna.

There are no gender specific names. For example, Faas can be either male or female, with only the suffix changing based on gender.
